Big bold and beautiful
An essential part of our modern lifestyle is the pursuit of quality leisure time. Increased travel and holidays abroad exposes us to different landscapes, plants and foliage, which in turn influence our taste in garden design. We increasingly want to enjoy the exotic and the unusual in our own gardens.
At Wilkinsons Plant Centre we have one of the most comprehensive collections of rare, large and exotic plants. Many of these are outstanding specimens, architectural plants which are capable of being used either as a centre piece, or to establish a design theme. These are plants which make a powerful statement and are a compelling addition to your garden.
The species and variety we stock is now so wide ranging they offer a number of different qualities to the gardener. They can be chosen for their large dramatic leaf form as is the case with Phoenix Palm and Gunnera; because they are slender and elegant like bamboo and the exotic grasses; have the year round foliage of evergreens; the distinctive silvery bark of Eucalyptus or Silver Birch, or the brightly coloured leaves of Japanese Acer.
Not only do we use these plants in our own award winning landscaping business, but we retail directly to amateur gardeners throughout the region. Knowing that with care, the species and variety are capable of growing well in the North East and will add greatly to your enjoyment of gardening. And for those of us who have areas of patio and timber deck, or are simply restricted to only having a courtyard garden, if chosen with care and thoughtfully managed exotic plants can be successfully grown in containers or raised beds. This gives the advantage of being able to change the arrangement according to the seasons and to group species together to make attractive visual displays.
